A digital surge tester is a high-voltage testing instrument used to evaluate the insulation integrity and winding quality of electric motors, transformers, and coils. It applies controlled surge voltage pulses and compares waveforms to detect faults like turn-to-turn shorts, insulation breakdown, and coil asymmetry before they cause catastrophic failures.
Vivid Metrawatt offers digital surge testers ranging from 5KV to 50KV, covering low-voltage motors, medium-voltage machines, and high-power industrial generators. Models include 5KV/6KV, 10KV/12KV/15KV, 25KV/30KV/40KV, and 50KV variants.
Yes. All Vivid Metrawatt digital surge testers are designed in compliance with IEEE and IEC standards and carry CE certification, making them suitable for use in global markets including Europe, USA, India, and the Middle East
Yes. Select models in our range — including the 5KV/6KV, 10KV/12KV/15KV, and 25KV/30KV/40KV variants — include a built-in DC hi-pot test feature, allowing you to perform both surge and dielectric withstand testing in a single instrument.
Digital surge testers are used across automotive, railways (including Indian Railways traction motors), wind energy, HVAC, pump and compressor manufacturing, armature production, and transformer winding shops.
Yes. Our surge testers are equipped with custom-developed LabVIEW-based software for waveform analysis, percentage error display, model storage (unlimited), and PDF report generation. The 10-inch industrial touch screen provides an intuitive interface.
Vivid Metrawatt provides warranty support and after-sales service. Our team of engineers provides on-site calibration, training, and technical assistance. Please contact us for specific warranty terms for each model.
The surge test voltage is typically 2–3x the motor's rated voltage. For motors up to 1KV, a 5KV or 6KV tester is suitable. For medium-voltage motors (3.3KV–6.6KV), 15KV–25KV testers are used. High-voltage machines may require the 40KV–50KV range. Our team can guide you based on your motor specifications.
